• What is perlite mineral?

Perlite is a type of rock composed of silicate volcanic rock and volcanic glass.

If the perlite is heated enough, it will expand between 4 and 30 times its original volume. Humans have known perlite as a volcanic glass since about the third century BC.

Expansion of perlite after heating is due to the presence of 3-6% water in the structure of this mineral. By heating the perlite, the water in the perlite structure evaporates and millions of tiny bubbles form in the structure. In this way, the structure of perlite becomes a porous structure with closed cells and the volume of grains inside perlite increases sharply and its color changes from black or dark gray to light white or beige.

Perlite is composed of silicon oxide, aluminum, sodium, calcium, potassium, manganese and iron. Perlite is chemically neutral and light in color after heating and expanding.

Perlite is used in agriculture, construction, pharmaceutical and water treatment industries.

Perlite is widely used in agriculture and other industries. Use in construction industry, pharmaceutical industry, water treatment of urban pools, etc. are other applications of perlite. Perlite is used as a supplement to horticultural soil, especially in hydroponic cultivation. The combination of perlite with garden soil or other planting tools such as coco peat and vermiculite, etc. greatly helps to improve the quality and fertility of garden soil for the plant. Processed perlite is very light and has a low density.
